Irene weakens as it slams into Coney Island
    Irene lost hurricane strength Sunday morning as it made landfall over New York's Coney Island, but the tropical storm is still expected to deliver a storm surge of up to 8 feet, rainfall of up to 15 inches and isolated tornadoes, the National Hurricane Center said.
